Founder | Dublin Packard Elder & Estate Attorneys

For more than 31 years, Todd Murphy has guided families through life’s most consequential planning decisions—protecting assets, preserving family harmony, and helping loved ones navigate aging, incapacity, and legacy planning with clarity and confidence.

Todd founded Dublin Packard as a boutique law firm dedicated to helping families plan for the future before a crisis arises—and to step in decisively when one does. His practice spans elder law, Medicaid and long-term care planning, asset protection, estate planning, real estate, tax-aware planning strategies, and the administration of estates and trusts when a loved one passes, with an emphasis on thoughtful preparation and steady guidance when emotions run high.

Many families first reach out with an urgent call:

“Mom needs to go into a nursing home right away—and we don’t want to lose the house.”

That call often comes after a health event, when decisions must be made quickly and the consequences can be permanent. Todd helps families respond intelligently in that moment—and works closely with advisors to help clients plan early enough to avoid it altogether.

In addition to crisis and long-term care planning, Todd advises individuals and families on comprehensive estate planning, including wills, revocable trusts, incapacity planning, and trust-based strategies designed to protect assets, simplify administration, and carry out a family’s wishes across generations. When a death occurs, he also assists families with probate and trust administration, helping executors and trustees carry out their responsibilities efficiently and with minimal disruption during an already difficult time.

Todd regularly collaborates with financial advisors, CPAs, and other trusted professionals when clients begin raising concerns about aging parents or future planning—whether they are coordinating care, managing finances, or simply want a clear roadmap before uncertainty turns into crisis. He serves as a collaborative legal partner, helping advisors address Medicaid planning, estate structure, family authority issues, and asset protection in a way that aligns with broader financial and tax strategies.

His work frequently includes:

•Estate planning for individuals, couples, and multi-generational families

•Advance planning to address long-term care risk before a crisis occurs

•Crisis planning when a parent needs immediate nursing or long-term care

•Asset protection and trust planning for the parent generation

•Probate, trust administration, and post-death guidance for families

•Powers of attorney, incapacity planning, and guardianship avoidance

•Family decision-making guidance during periods of stress and transition

•Educational seminars for families and professional audiences

Known for his compassionate, practical approach, Todd translates complex legal and financial rules into plain-English guidance—so families can make thoughtful decisions rather than reactive ones. Whether the call comes too late—or early enough to prevent it—the work remains the same: helping families care for one another while protecting what they’ve spent a lifetime building.
